Baseball SA are proud to announce the entry of Gawler Ranges Baseball Club to the State League Division 1 competition for the 2023/24 season.
The Club’s participation numbers have been steadily increasing since their inception in 2007. Due to their volunteer efforts, they find themselves in the position to be able to establish a State League Division 1 side.
Gawler Ranges are in a. major growth area of the state which presents a great opportunity for the club.
“We are very excited to welcome Gawler into the Division 1 competition, “says Baseball SA President, Tony Catt.
“This is the start of an exciting chapter in the growth of baseball in the north of Adelaide.”
Baseball SA are hoping that the addition of Gawler will lead to increased retention and growth in the far north and potentially open the Barossa Valley to baseball growth opportunities.
The addition of a Gawler to Division 1 will also create an even number of teams playing in the competition for the recent upcoming season.
“I look forward to adding Gawler to Division 1, as it feels it will better the community and bring added energy and competition to the league,” says Baseball SA General Manager, James Rawson.
“It will have a cascading effect throughout the Club, and I applaud the work being done to take it to the next level.”
Gawler Ranges are hoping this opportunity will help them to retain their junior numbers as this now opens a clear pathway to the highest level of senior baseball in the State League competition.
We commend Gawler Ranges on their effort to get the Club to this point and we are excited to see them succeed in this endeavour.
