With The Adelaide Giants, with support of the Melbourne Aces and the Australian Baseball League, have made the decision to alter this weekend’s game schedule due to impending heavily forecasted rain, wind and thunderstorms.

With reports of heavy rain – and what the “experts” are calling a “weather bomb” heading to Adelaide on Saturday – there’s a chance two scheduled games could be affected.

Adelaide Giants General Manager Nathan Davison said a tough, but proactive, decision had to be made in the name of saying “play ball” as many times possible.

The news schedule will be as follows:

  • Thursday 7:00 pm
  • Friday 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm
  • Saturday 7:00 pm

To summarise: Saturday’s originally scheduled double-header moves to Friday.

“Nobody can predict the weather perfectly, not even the people who predict the weather, but we have two games originally scheduled for Saturday. We made a tough call to move one of them to Friday,” says Davison. “We’re catering for a worst-case scenario.”

“We want to get in as many games as possible a matter of priority,” he adds.

Melbourne’s flight is Sunday morning, so it is impossible to play then.

Tickets for Saturday’s game still stand but there will just be one game – at 7:00PM. Friday becomes the doubleheader.

It should a fun Friday at the ballpark. Tickets are just $10 on Fridays at Dicolor Australia Stadium and now fans have access to two games.

Shirvington Wines will be offering complimentary wine tastings until 6:30PM. The Giants will offer happy hour beers for $6 until 6:00PM. Unfortunately, the ring ceremony will be postponed.

If you can’t make it to the ballpark, you can watch the games on Baseball+.

“We remain optimistic we can still play a game of baseball on Saturday,” says Davison.
